Morena Baccarin (IMDB) has been the favorite actress of many a nerd since her stint on Firefly. As Inara Serra, she brought a great deal of depth and personality to the cult favorite.
Since then, Morena has done a little bit of live action TV, and a bit more voice acting. She was the voice of Black Canary on Justice League Unlimited, the voice of Talia al’Ghul in Son of Batman, and the voice of Cheetah in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
She’s even the voice of supercomputer Gideon on The Flash.
All of that animation and voice over work led to a regular role on live-action Batman prequel Gotham. She plays Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who works at Arkham Asylum.
Notice a trend? She got in good with DC Comics. We don’t have any insight into her career choices, but it seems like she’s been pigeonholed.
In fact, Ms. Baccarin has never performed a voice acting role that wasn’t a DC Comics property. At least until now.
Elliot: The Littlest Reindeer is a Christmas movie set for release for the 2018 holidays. It follows the adventures of a miniature reindeer who is determined to join Santa’s sleigh-pulling team when Blitzen retires a few days before Christmas.
Morena Baccarin will play Corkie, a plucky reporter who’s intent on getting the dirt on the drama at the North Pole. She joins a cast that includes John Cleese, Martin Short, Samantha Bee, and newcomer Scott Farley.
Will Elliot: The Littlest Reindeer be any good? Tough to say. Its producers include a History Channel exec and a VeggieTales alum. Director Paul Griffin’s is an effects guru whose only previous directorial work is the animated TV series based on Viva Piñata.
Whatever happens though, it’s always nice to hear Morena Baccarin. She’s great in just about everything she does.
